Inspiration is a concept that varies for all but for everyone it's a thought or vision that requires action for satisfaction. This morning I had three most inspirational books open for three different things: Collaborative Quilting by Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston, Nancy Crow's engaging new book and Gee's Bend, The Women and Their Quilts. Like this...
These three books are worlds apart by cover but interesting as a group. Nancy Crow is determined and beautifully structured. Freddy and Gwen are spontaneous and bursting with color and spirit.
Gee's Bend, well if chance is their creative director take me to the roulette table of quilting! I thought they made a nice complimentary story and then remembered a piece of work inspired a while ago and then set aside in haste. Perhaps, when the time is right, it will be enough inspiration on it's own to be finished.
Women doing their own thing with great determination of spirit are the best source of inspiration there is for me. If you are looking for gifts for the quilting gals in your life you may want to try one of these books...great for those rare times when we just want to enjoy someone else's work before embarking on a project of our own. here's to a quiet moment...kathy
