Phew. Looking back I am glad I have made it through the last series of events but...BUT...wait...there is more coming up! First, next week in Berry NSW we will be priviledged with the Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild show! This promises to be a showcase event featuring quilts with a modern edge from all over the country. Rumor has it that there will be local quilts hanging with those from Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Central Coast and from as far away as Perth. Curious? Mark the dates on your calendar and head to Berry next Saturday and Sunday 3-4th May!
I know there are prizes, prizes, prizes to be won and we'll have a booth set up full of good stuff as well. So, feed the curiosity, interest, desire and head to Berry next weekend. Wendy and I can vouch for the sideline shopping from our last visit there...in fact, that is another visit to Berry to put on your calendar. Wendy and I are both returning with several other wonderful tutors to Berry to teach at this year's retreat the weekend of 30-31 August. Elizabeth Dubbelde from Berry Patchwork puts on a great show. I'll be teaching my Wandering Mind quilt...
This year we'll all be here for the Sydney Quilt Show 9-13 July. The new venue promises to be filled with natural light which can only make the 400 quilts on display shimmer! Imagine a show that big under translucent ceilings! I love a bit of change so we are all looking forward to the new venue for the show. Transportation from the city has all been arranged so taking a ferry or bus is a great option. Plenty of parking on hand as well...
If we weren't here for that we might be off to the USA for our July experience at Quilting by the Lake to do a class with Victoria Findlay Wolfe or one of the other world class tutors on hand! Check out the schedule of fabulous teachers at this great event. Also a top hit for quilters in July is our beloved Sisters event...The Quilters Affair which is the mecca trek...check out the website and if you can go...go! Do the classes, do the show...just go for the coffee and wilderness walks. We will miss being at these events this year but who knows...there is always next year!!!
The roll out of events continues with the Hunters Hill Quilt Show this August 7-10th. The Hunters Hill group has been my guiding light both in community and quilting spirit for over a about 14 years. This show is always a winner with 100 quilts that vary in style from contemporary to traditional. There is always a big crowd for viewing, eating and enjoying the quilters efforts.
The clean up looked like a carnival massacre with feathers, tails, wings and fur bits everywhere! Nothing like a good party with dancing until the wee hours to make you wish for younger years!
Hope to see you around at some of these upcoming events! Enjoy the holiday ANZAC Holiday weekend!! k
