A sunny day, an historic Brush Farm homestead and quilts galore...is there any better way to spend the day? The show opened Thursday night full of the pride bursting smiles of winners and organizers of the Eastwood Quilt Show 2009. It was fun to hear the winners names called out for one stunning quilt after another and to see their happy faces as they looked back at the group, full of pride for all their hard work. Congratulations to all of the winners and all of the participants in the show as there are some very nice quilts and some great skills on exhibition!
All proceeds from this even go to The Lupus Foundation which is a great cause. I learned that one in seven Australians are affected by this chronic illness!
This is the view from the front verandah where Material Obsession, Cherry Pie Designs and Jenny Burton all have stalls for the show. It has been an absolute pleasure dreaming away the afternoon imaging the visitors of a previous day approaching this home on the dirt path. This weekend, over 1,000 visitors so far have walked up in all manners...some had a sense of purpose looking very much like they were thinking, "quilt show...quilt show...gotta get to the quilt show!" and some meandering along,
snapping photos of trees the gorgeous house or gardens... some of the younger variety literally rolling on the lawns and some relaxing under the trees reading the paper while partners enjoyed the many wonderful quilts on display. The quilts are worth a look and today I'll snap some photos if I get a chance to share.
It looks this morning like the weather might hold for a few hours making today another glorious day for quilting. Looking forward to seeing you there today if you haven't been already or even if you are coming back for more! What more can you ask for a Sunday besides quilts in a heritage surround with yummy food and what's left of a GREAT craft stall! Enjoy! k
ps Happy Birthday MOM! Hope you are doing something fun with good friends today!
