If there is one thing I love its a group of dedicated quilters getting busy! Here are a couple of shots of the shop this past weekend as we hosted a group of "out of towners" for a Brigitte Giblin workshop. Lisa, concentrating over there in the corner... organized her sewing friends from Queensland to Melbourne...Canberra too, for two days of sewing with some fine dining thrown in as well. As you can see, there were piles of fabric everywhere and progress being made on the walls.
One table was doing the Black Family Album quilt...
Chris, Margaret and Lisa added bits of memories from their interesting lives into their quilts as they put them together.
One of the nicest things about a weekend like this is learning about everyone's lives. From the very personal stories of childhood to current affairs, it all gets covered. Again I say, how lucky are we to have this special pastime to share with women who become friends over busy fingers and chat.
The other table was neatly bagging up combinations of fabrics for Brigitte's Hexagon quilt.
The dedication at this back table by Barbara and Carolyn was outstanding. They applied themselves to the task and by the time they left I think all the combinations were ready. Off they head now for a few weeks in Noosa where the quilts will come together.
I had to be sly with the camera and missed out on Raquel and the start of her Tesselation project. I've notices some people get a bit shy when the camera comes out...wonder why????
Anyway, it was heaps of fun and on behalf of Material Obsession I'd like to say thank you to all of you for sharing the weekend with us and being such lovely guests full of positive energy. If the truth be known,a group of very lovely quilt makers as well! It all came to a screeching and all too soon halt Sunday afternoon as Leisle and I walked back into a quiet, empty, lonely shop. ( However, I got home in time to get the laundry done...)
A colorful, fun filled weekend behind us we opened the doors yesterday, the last day of winter. Sun shining we got to the tasks at hand. Yesterday my new camera arrived. I could hardly get it out of John's hands as he examined all the whiz bang effects. The detail factor will be appreciated as will the larger screen on the back of the camera. Can't wait to get busy with it ! Welcome to Spring today! Kathy
