NEW SHOP ADDRESS FROM TUESDAY 1st March
72 Roseby Street
Drummoyne NSW 2047
Phone (02) 9819 6455
Here's a map. Very handy location. Now if you are thinking I don't live in Sydney what does this mean...well it means that if you ever come to visit we will be more handy than ever. The new location is a very short bus ride from the city and close to a large shopping center that has just been completely done up. The shop is located just across the street from two major parking facilities so no shortage of car parks for drivers. Personally, I have decided that once we get settled I will be taking a bus to work. Yup. I will hand over my car to the P platers in the family and bus it to a 10 metre distance from the shop. I am thinking that bus trip will alllow me a tad more time with the hand sewing...and the music...and the down time to think. V. excited about that.
We have started packing up the office and the rest of the shop will come down over the weekend. We will be closed on Monday 28th February and re-open on 1st March which is the 8th anniversary of our original opening day!!! Birthdays for EVERYONE I say!!! If we aren't too knackered on the day we'll have cake, maybe even baked in our own kitchen!!! However, given the amount of stuff to get in and set up all purty like...we might have to buy a cake. Whatever, I am sure it will be a fun day or finding stuff.Classes will resume on that day and all other programs will continue as well.
Yikes. This was supposed to be my easy year. I missed a few yoga classes while stretching the imagination with Kaffe and Brandon and then Oscar so today I got there bursting for a bit of breath. Funny thing was I felt a lot of resistance in my favorite positions. Eventually I realised it wasn't my body resisting but my over strung out mind that was holding me back. That revelation eased the pressure and all was as it should be. Funny how the brain is such a powerful muscle. It controls everything but itself. Once I got control of the beast I could feel a bit of relaxation coming on and relief was in sight.
There is also a lot of relief in creativity. The dr. ordered that I surround myself with creative individuals...so I do. Cath made this quilt of bordered diamonds.
Dont' be fooled...it is only a mini quilt made by the queen of all things small. How sweet.
Perpective is power.
In the Monday Design class our summer assignment was all about expressing ourselves in quilts. Sometimes a word is worth a thousand pictures so here is Cath's bookcase of Penguin books. V. cute and also small.
Jenny's words speak for themselves. We spent a while deciding if this was true or not...you can decide for yourself.
This quilt actually takes me some place unexpected. Once, a long time ago, an artist gave me a gift of art. It had many colors behind a screen and I think a bit of a semi hidden meaning. When I saw this piece it all came back as almost a reincarnation or a memory of a foreshadow in life. Interesting what wakes the mind. Moira quilted her words onto her woven background and since it is unlikely that you can read them in this photo just sing along to Imagine and you'll get to a colorful life in the end!
Jill's words were all of the spoken variety but mainly because she has been working very hard to finish her Twisted Tradition Block of the Month and what a whopper of delight it is. The Martha Negly border is delicious with the fanciful colors and the quilting was just perfect.
There was a special treatment for each block and we spent quite a while checking out the style with delight.
Here's just one of the blocks. Just enough but not too much.
The rest of the day we got busy on a new quilt of mine called Soul Searching. This quilt is designed to help us all discover the secrets of our stash...our color choices and how we work color. More on this later and if you are interested in trying it out, I am doing a workshop on Soul Searching for the NSW Quilters Guild in April. I'll get more details and post it soon! (and I am teaching it at the Quilters Affair in Sisters for you State siders!)
And, yes! the gorgeous and coveted crochet scarves from Istanbul are back in stock. We have lots of lovely colors to choose from!
So that's all folks as it is evening and time for these hands to turn to something gloriously colorful! We'll keep you updated on all things moving related as the days pass and the excitement about a new place to play builds!!! k
I wish your shop was a little closer than on the other side of the world but if I should ever be fortunate enough to visit Sydney, I will definitely drop by. So envious of the wonderful projects you get up to together!

Ah yes, man I have bounced my tail right off today. Square peg desks in rectangle doors etc. The place has been transformed from a smelly dank spot to a light filled space with a fresh smell of paint. Looking foreward to seeing you there soon. k

So exciting to be getting a new space! Glad that you are enjoying yourself. Just went last night to see Kaffe. He was amazing and I have come home with so much spinning in my mind. Just wish I could sew as fast as the ideas came. Wish I could be there for cake!
