In San Fran on Friday night after a fun day at C&T Publishing. We walked into the lobby and found this....
It was exciting to meet the C&T team on Friday. I love my team at MO, we work together communicating plans, ideas and issues with an open attitude that I depend on...no secrets. I found the same cohesive energy in this group. It has been obvious from the start of the editing process that each member is a professional with an eye for detail and a talent for their job. It is gratifying for me after the long process of making quilts for a book, thinking through the story and working the photography to know that my efforts will be enhanced, improved and magnified into something great!!! Thanks so much to Alison, Michele, Alice, and Amy for all your efforts and also for such a nice lunch!
This is the team that put together my next book, Adding Layers, due out in February 2014. However, some of these talented gals helped Americanize my Making Quilts book which is landed and now available in the USA! I know there is a stack at the Stitching Post right now!!! Ready for my classes tomorrow and through the week.
Other highlights of San Fran included a delightful visit to Bri-Tex. Now this is a fabric addicts destination if there ever was one. Jammed from floor to ceiling on four floors with all colours, textures and weights of all kinds of fabric. One might imagine that a patchwork shop owner for 10 years might have all she needs forever but here I splurged on some beautiful Italian cottons while indulging my eye with walls of wool.
It is a legendary spot and one I was happy to browse with the help of Charles and Sharman who smartly took me just where I needed to go here! There were some intense colours defining fantastic patterns.
Keep this place in mind if you ever need wool because it was by far the biggest selection I have seen...
We tore ourselves away from floors of promise of joy and headed out for coffee. but had to stop in the lobby of Neiman Marcus just to feel the glitter.
Cheryl was a fab tourguide and it was fantastic to revive such a long life friendship. We had lots of stories to relive which is always a treat for me!
San Fran is a place of love and happiness. Rarely have I been in a city where a band plays and random passers by simply stop and samba, rhamba or just wiggle to the beat of the music. The feeling in the streets was hope and it was catching. Wendy and I were on a cloud the entire time!
The other thing I loved about San Fran was how anything that stood still got painted with stories of the past present and future.
color combinations for later were everywhere we looked.
As was the lovely Madonna raising her arms in loving protective upward motions.
and because our suitcases are piled on the trolley as we prepare to leave the lovely Portland I will now end my story here today. I was running in the morning of our last day and came across this sign in a window which I memorized as it said what my heart says...
and that, my friends is all she writes today....rejoice and let your light your light shine. k
Happy travels! Safe travels!
