I know I've been missing in action here on the blog. Its a photo thing. I take my photos on my ipad and then there is no program to upload them. Anything that takes more than one step is at the bottom of the list! Anyone have a solution here???
So...what's been up? One of the things I love about MO is seeing people that start quilting with us and then progress or finish a quilt. I love seeing them go from hesitant neophites to accomplished quilt makers. A perfect example of this progress is Kerry in Megan's Step Up Class. She came in the other day with this beauty...
The pattern is Megan's Mini Mandala (follow Megan on instagram @meganmanwaring) which is a winner project and not usually a first quilt but it is a winner! Learn about fussy cutting and applique with this gorgeous project and get a big smile like Kerry!
Louise has a big smile too. She is working on Megan's Modern Sampler in class which explores lots of improve and more modern techniques. There are heaps of techniques to learn in this quilt which just grows and grows with each fun block. Then when the blocks are made it is fun to jigsaw puzzle piece them together.
Trail Blazing panels make great medallions as seen here with a Kaffe Fassett quit pattern. I was surprised to see it walk in the shop and amazed at how many fabrics look great doing the surround borders.
This little beauty goes a long way to work Folk Art Revolution. Feature fabrics are fussy cut and then mixed with a wide range of other fabrics to create a very engaging array of color and shapes. David (follow him on instagram @scfdavid)has done a fantastic job of fine tuning the range of colours to perfectly enhance the range and I can hardly stop looking at this to type! Paper pieced shapes are designed to fit in the spaces created by the Wedding Ring print and it uses the fabric beautifully.
In Marg George's class Sharon made this stunner. What is really special about this is that Sharon had all those hexagons pieced from a day long gone. Not wanting to waste the effort they worked through the shop to find new contemporary fabrics that gave the hexagons an updated mix. The result is pure genius!
Also in Marg's class Susan is making progress with her "Margagogs". It takes a bit longer when doing work by hand but the results are so rewarding. I love walking into the classroom and seeing progress on the walls like this.
And now I am out of time for today but here is a really bad photo of the quilt we, the team, made for the Quilt NSW raffle quilt. Three years ago Cath suggested we make the raffle quilt and we all said, "Yeah, we have three years..." thinking the day would never come. But it did! Guided by Cath we string pieced contemporary strips of fabric into tulips and appliqued them onto...you guessed it, Kaffe Fassett Shot cottons. Who is the team you ask...Cath Babidge, Megan Manwaring, Wendy Williams, Caroyn Davis, Grace Widders, Robyn Shipton, LIesel Moult Helena Fooije, Julie Kennedy and me. Special thanks to Grace who came in to finish this beauty with hand quilting. Tickets coming soon!!!
Yikes....must dash but keep on quilting....by the way, want to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes at Material Obsession, tune into Crafty Planners blog for an interview we did on store owners. It'll be up tomorrow!k
Is it possible to email the photos to yourself and access them that way?

I work with Wordpress and have the app on my tablet; it's easy then to take pics, edit them on the tablet, then upload as I type my blog post. Hope you can do the same with your blogging platform.

Hi Kathy
Can you help please? In your book Material Obsession you mention Prints Charming fabric panels. I've been trying to find them online (I live in England) to be able to buy the rocket panel, but can't trace them so far. Can you please help me to track them down? I wonder if they are only available in Australia.
Thank you very much
